Public transport is an essential service in our society and one of the activities most closely related to the quality of life of citizens. For this reason, since 2005 Empresa Municipal de Transportes de Valencia (EMT) has adopted a policy of actions based on and aimed at promoting, optimising and guaranteeing the welfare of the people of Valencia and of all those who use the city’s public transport through the application of the European quality standard UNE EN 13816.

EMT Valencia is currently a reference in the Spanish passenger transport sector due to its position as the first bus company to implement and obtain the European UNE-EN 13816 certificate, which was extended by AENOR (Agencia Española de Normalización y Certificación), to the company ‘Interior’ line 5.

This commitment has allowed EMT to adopt preventive measures in order to be more efficient and sustainable by meeting the values that define it as a company:

  • Customer satisfaction is the goal.

  • Quality of service is the means.

  • The employees are responsible for reaching the goal.

Following the gradual introduction of this commitment to quality with the citizen, Valencia has become the first major city in Spain to obtain the 100% recognition and certification of quality after completing the implementation of the standard in all of its lines.

All this effort invested in adaptation is reflected in a fleet of modern, comfortable, safe, accessible and, especially, environmentally-friendly buses which duly comply with the timetables and frequencies indicated in the city’s bus stops, offering the most complete and updated information and the best customer service. All this has been done to contribute to the improvement and the optimization of the quality of life in Valencia.
